Modeling VCSEL Transmission in OptiSystem Software: Realistic Simulation of Experimental Results in Optical Communication System

Optiwave Systems Inc. provides software tools to design, simulate, optimize, and analyze photonic components, links, systems, and networks. We showcase in this webinar the process of modelling measured data of vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) in OptiSystem software. The main parameters of practical VCSELs are extracted and used in the device rate equations in OptiSystem. The interaction of the VCSEL chirp parameter and fiber chromatic dispersion is explored in the reference paper by Corning and modeled in OptiSystem tool. Several optical fibers are investigated by Dr Chen from Corning [1,2]. The experimental work and the equivalent simulations in OptiSystem software will be discussed and demonstrated in this webinar.
